My Story

My story starts on the stage. From as early as I can remember, I was a performer. From participating in school musicals, short-films, choirs and vocal competitions, I’ve never lived a life behind the scenes. Despite my decision to pursue an academic degree in college, rather than one in performing arts, this history shapes everything about who I am today. I’m not afraid to be heard or seen.

As a Communications Studies major and Writing minor, being both articulate and engaging in person, and on paper, is essential. As a member of the corporate communications team at Ford this past summer, I was never behind my desk for more than an hour or two each day. Sure, as a PR intern I wrote press releases and media briefings, but I spent the majority of time with people. Whether I was leading media tours, coordinating presentations and events, or simply going out for coffee with reporters, my job was first and foremost to be the face of Ford to the press. My ability to command the attention of an audience has proven instrumental in the classroom and beyond.

In my short, yet meaningful academic and professional career so far, I’ve learned that as important as the research and analytics behind any project is, communicating that information in a clear and engaging manner is just as important, if not more. I’m hear to be that voice, as a writer and presenter.
